Inaugurated in 1987 with a professional tournament, Golf del Sur has since established itself as one of the most emblematic golf courses in the Canary Islands and a regular venue for top-level international competitions.
Originally designed by Pepe Gancedo and remodelled in 2005 by Manuel Piñero, Golf del Sur now offers an 18-hole course of competitive character, with wide fairways, generous greens and natural hazards that make every round unique.
Golf del Sur is a desert-style course with links-style details, par 72 and 18 holes, designed for players of all levels while still offering sufficient technical challenge for the experienced golfer.
Located next to the San Blas Natural Reserve and offering privileged views of the Atlantic Ocean, several holes run through the impressive San Blas Ravine, making every shot an authentic and different experience.
"In search of perfection?"
Original Press Clipping, 1987
Since 1987, Golf del Sur has been more than just a course; it has been a living part of Tenerife's history. This original newspaper clipping captures the ambitious vision that launched our journey: a quest for golfing perfection in the Canary Islands.
"A course with history and experiences that have shaped golf in the Canary Islands."
Decades later, that same spirit of excellence continues to drive us forward, honoring our heritage while embracing the future of the game.
"We are not a resort course like the others; we are an authentic, different and deeply Canarian course, where the trade winds add character and uniqueness to every round."
In 2024 we launched an ambitious comprehensive renovation to transform Golf del Sur into an international benchmark for design, sustainability and playing experience. The project is led by Mr. Manuel Piñero and the team of Target Ingenieros.
The aim is recovering the original environment and the essence of the landscape integrated with the San Blas Reserve.
State-of-the-art bunkers with white sand creating spectacular contrasts
Flat and firm, with a wide variety of distances to suit all levels
Modern and challenging surfaces, the finishing touch of the project
