Golf in Harmony with Nature
At Golf del Sur, we are fully aware of the privilege of operating in the Canary Islands, but also of the enormous responsibility that comes with managing its natural resources, especially water scarcity. That is why we have stopped viewing sustainability as a mere policy, making it the heart of our identity and the core priority of our new Strategic Plan.
The south of Tenerife is known for its arid beauty. Amidst this landscape, our course is not only a unique green and scenic space in the area, but a living ecosystem. To maintain this lung without compromising the island's water resources, we use reclaimed water to irrigate our facilities.
Our new course concept is committed to authenticity: we are transitioning towards the exclusive use of endemic flora, creating a natural habitat that respects the island's identity. Thanks to this, the ponds along our course have become an ideal sanctuary for the resting and passage of local migratory birds.
In addition, we harness the Tenerife sun through photovoltaic energy for self-consumption, we offer parking for electric vehicles, and we operate with a fleet of electric buggies.
We irrigate our entire facilities using reclaimed water, protecting the island's scarce water resources.
Transitioning exclusively to native plant species, creating a natural habitat that respects Tenerife's identity.
Harnessing the Tenerife sun through solar panels for self-consumption across our operations.
Our full fleet of buggies is electric, complemented by EV charging stations in our car park.
Island-owned and island-rooted — the vast majority of our staff and suppliers come from the local community.
We collaborate closely with the local town council and host charity tournaments to give back to society.
Golf del Sur is a project with roots. Our ownership is in the hands of people from the island, and our philosophy is clear: we want to be an economic engine for our surroundings. Therefore, we firmly believe in local talent and economy; the vast majority of our workers and suppliers are local.
We believe in giving back to society part of what it gives us. We maintain a close collaboration with the local town council and work hand in hand with various charitable organisations, hosting charity tournaments to raise funds and support our community.
Certified since 2004 — Environmental Management Standard
Environmental responsibility is in our DNA. Since 2004, our environmental management system has been certified under the UNE-EN ISO 14001 standard, reaffirming our commitment to continuous improvement.
But we are not stopping there. Currently, we are immersed in the execution of ambitious redesign works that will make us an international benchmark in landscape integration. In this new stage, a specialised team supervises our activities under criteria of excellence.
And this is just the beginning: in the coming months, we will present our new Sustainability Plan, a definitive roadmap that will consolidate Golf del Sur as the most responsible, modern, and benchmark course in the sector.
